BODY COURSE |

When Master Yang first came to Australia, he was amazed at Australia’s
sheer passion for Rugby. Not having anything like it in China, he perceived
how the Steel Body training in the Yang Mian™ System could benefit the
players on the field, and began to develop a specially designed course
that would compliment the existing training programs of rugby players.
The incorporation of Yang Mian™ Training principles into Rugby League was
a logical and evolutionary step. Because it is a sport that involves a
lot of heavy contact between multiple players, it is important for players
to be able make heavy contact without sustaining injuries to themselves,
whilst still maintaining and further maximizing their ability to power
through any opposing players who are unfortunate enough to get in their
way.
Yang Mian™ accomplishes this by training the player’s body to be flexible
like rubber, so they can absorb any energy that is directed at them and
bounce it back outwards. The power output developed occurs naturally upon
impact, and causes the body to become like metal all over in a fraction
of a second, causing anything making contact to be penetrated by a sharp
jolt of kinetic energy. This is called “spring power”, and can be likened
to taking a heavy-duty spring, pushing it down as far as possible, and
then letting it go. It is the same explosive unleashing of energy that
is taught in the Yang Mian™ System, and in the Rugby Steel Body Course.
Once a player has achieved this level, their ability to take even the
biggest of hits, and charge full speed into opposing players becomes as
natural as passing the ball. Knowing that they are far more resilient
against injury, and able to project much more power than previously thought,
the players gain a unique psychological edge over their opposition, which
can make all the difference in a competitive sport of this nature.
As part of this unique course, Master Yang personally designed a special
training device to assist in the training of players, and help develop
each player’s natural “living way” of attacking, which is a trademark
of the Yang Mian™ System.
After 2 years of development, the course was made available and taught
to 10 players of the Sydney University Football Team during the 1999 off-season.
That year saw the team win a minor premiership and 15 games straight.
More than happy with the field results and the newfound success of the
Sydney University Team, Master Yang sent a representative of the system
to oversee the instruction of the steel body program to the Penrith Panther’s
first grade team during off- season. The resulting success saw the team
through to the top 8.
